For my visit to Bern in Switzerland, i stayed in a village outside Bern, a 10 minute train ride. This was at the Hotel Baren in Niederscherli. A comfortable hotel ,for Bed and Breakfast, run by a friendly man and his elderly mother. The village was quite ,just the place to relax after a busy day sightseeing in Bern. I stayed three nights.---------------------Bern is the Federal Capital of Switzerland. The city is famous for its clock towers, mainly the Zyglogge clock tower,just before the hour medieval figures appear, watched by crowds of tourist.------There are several ways of saying Bern, Barn, Berne, Berna.----------The old city is built in a wide loop of the river Aare.----Since the 16th century Bern has had a Bear Pit. Today 4 bears iive in a open air enclosure by the river.-----Albert Einstein lived in a flat in Kramgasse, today the house is called Einsteinhaus.----A feature of Bern is the Statue Fountains.--------The Federal Palace , Bundershaus, was built between 1857 and 1902.--- The main streets have arcaded shops with basements.--- The city has a good Tram service.--- Bern Minster has the tallest tower in Switzerland of 330 ft.. 312 steps to climb. The Minster is a Protestant cathedral with unusually ,7 organs for music. The Minster is in Munsterplatz. Bern centre.
